Making and Materials

An exhibition exploring ‘Materials and Making’ looking at Commonwealth woods in the House of Commons. The exhibition showcases a selection of Commonwealth gifts and the materials they are made from, from the speakers chair to furniture used in division lobbies.

The exhibition is inspired by the materiality of the different woods used to create gifts from the Commonwealth countries. The exhibition celebrates 75 years of the Commonwealth and was displayed in Portcullis House, Westminster, for MPs, visitors, and House staff to learn about the rich collection of objects that are part of everyday democracy within the House of Commons.
